2020 Majors, which one was the best?
Wow, the 2020 Major Championships did not disappoint! This week on the podcast we shared some of our favorite golf moments from 2020. One of the topics we discussed was our favorite Major Championship.
With three great Major Championships for the Men it was a tough decision. We had two first time winners, Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau, then Dustin Johnson wrapped up the Majors for 2020 with a record breaking performance at Augusta National. I gave the slight edge to Collin's performance at the PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park mostly because of his clutch performance on the back 9 on Sunday by chipping in for birdie on hole 14, then taking eagle on the drive-able par 4 16th. Collin's tee shot on hole16 could arguably be the shot of the year!
Jonathan had Byrson's US Open win a the historic Winged Foot as his favorite Major of 2020. Bryson and his distance was no test for Winged Foot and he was the only player to finish under par. Bryson took his new game and shushed all his critics by outlasting round 3 leader Mathew Wolff and decisively winning by 6 shots. Winged Foot was a great venue, and the tournament was an exciting viewing experience.
It is hard to argue against Sophia Popov's 2020 Open Championship win as the top Major for the Women's game. This Cinderella story captured the hearts of all golf fans as Popov went from caddying on the LPGA just a few months prior to winning one of the most prestigious tournaments in all of golf.
2020 had a lot of great story lines, listen to our thoughts on the best moments in 2020 and our predictions for 2021 in our latest podcast.
